FV Project Car Debut Set For This Weekend
CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO – After months of planning and construction by many of the top names in the Formula Vee community, the FormulaCar Magazine FV project car will make its debut this coming weekend in Elkhart Lake, WI at the legendary Road America facility. The event is an SCCA Central Division Regional and is also the fourth round of the FCM Formula First / Formula Vee Challenge Cup Series. FCM editor Rob Howden will be behind the wheel of the project to make his own FV debut after two enjoyable starts in a Formula First entry. Heading to the Elkhart Lake facility, Howden is focused on a real target for the weekend.
The car was built by Morningside, MD’s Ed Womer and will sport the number 37, Howden’s traditional digits. The chassis is the 15th edition of the ‘EV-3’ produced by Womer, a top Formula Vee national driver in his own right. Power will be supplied by a 1200cc VW mill built by SR Racing from Lexington, KY, transferred through a Bob Lybarger-built transaxle to Hoosier R55 compound tires. The car includes a complete MyChron data acquisition system, numerous parts supplied by Averill Racing Stuff and a fantastic vinyl package supplied by KartGraphix.
“This car is the culmination of great work by the formula’s best suppliers and I’m excited to have them all on-side with our program,” continued Howden. “This car is going to be an awesome advertisement for the Formula Vee category.”Additional project partners include Penske Shocks, Ski Motorsports, Roxanne’s Headers, Dean’s Autosports, Fuel Safe, Pennon Composites, Aurora Rod ends and Firebottle Safety Systems.
