Formula Vee Project Announced

CAMBRIDGE, ON - Motorsports publisher Rob Howden has released plans for the first racing project for his periodical FormulaCar Magazine. A six-part editorial series, beginning with the May issue of the magazine, will chronicle the construction, assembly, preparation and eventual competition debut of a Formula Vee race car. Howden will get behind the wheel of the car himself this summer, running in four events throughout the year.

The primary partners in the program have been secured with Ed Womer of Womer Race Cars providing the rolling chassis. Based in Morningside, MD, Womer is a long-time national level SCCA competitor who has constructed a total of 14 cars. The FCM project car – a Womer EV-3 - will be chassis #15. The engine program is being handled Jim and Greg Schings of SR Racing, which is situated in Lexington, KY. In accordance to the Formula Vee rules, the engine will be a 1200cc four-cylinder VW powerplant.

Once constructed, Howden will race the car in the FormulaCar Magazine Formula First/Formula Vee Challenge Cup, a five-race series based in the SCCA’s Central and Great Lakes Divisions. Rob will miss one event thanks to a conflict, but the car will be raced at Grattan Raceway (MI), Road America (WI), Watkins Glen (NY) and Mosport(ON). The first race will be run on the May 27-28 weekend at Grattan in western Michigan.
